Royal Expert Says Prince Harry Is in a “Painful Place” Due to Writing About Kate Middleton in ‘Spare’

Kate Middleton's Diagnosis Has Left Prince Harry & Meghan Markle With 'No Trust' for the Royals

Prince Harrydidnothold back about the royal family in his 2023bombshell-filled memoirSpare, and—in addition to going in on his brother Prince William (whom Harry alleges physically attacked him during an argument)—even had some things to say about Kate Middleton.

Fast-forward to now, and the Duke of Sussex is said to be in a “painful place” amid Kate’s recent cancer diagnosis.

“When you do discover that your sister-in-law has cancer and you’ve written stuff that can’t be retracted, that’s quite a painful place to be in,” royal expert Tessa Dunlop tells Us Weekly.“I’m not saying it isn’t.”

“Can Harry and Meghan really hold themselves off as the caring example now? They’re certainly going to have to be careful of their timing with any releases so that it doesn’t look opportunistic,” Dunlop adds.

Royal expert Tessa Dunlop has been quite vocal about Harry’s current predicament, stating, “When you do discover that your sister-in-law has cancer and you’ve written stuff that can’t be retracted, that’s quite a painful place to be in.” It’s like finding out your sibling’s favorite toy is actually a priceless antique that you’ve been using as a doorstop. Awkward!

In ‘Spare,’ Harry laid out all the juicy details about his relationship with Kate Middleton, including a few revelations that might have been better left in the royal vault. Now, with Kate’s health challenges, it seems Harry might be feeling a bit like a jester who’s realized his jokes aren’t quite as funny as he thought.

Dunlop suggests that Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, will need to tread carefully with their public statements, especially given the sensitive nature of Kate’s health. It’s like trying to navigate a minefield while wearing a blindfold and tap shoes – not an easy task!

As for the public response, it’s a mixed bag. Some sympathize with Harry’s situation, while others feel he should have thought twice before spilling the royal tea in his memoir. It’s a classic case of “hindsight is 20/20,” or as they say in royal circles, “hindsight is a crown of thorns.”

In the end, it seems that Harry is learning a hard lesson about the power of words and the importance of family, even in the most tumultuous of circumstances. It’s a reminder that even a prince can’t escape the consequences of his actions, no matter how ‘spare’ his title may be.

A source previously spoke to Us Weekly about how the Princess of Wales felt about being included in Spare and noted she “feels that Harry’s actions are atrocious. She is appalled at him for dragging her name through the dirt and is finding it hard to forgive.”

Understandably, the couples haven’t been close since, but Harry and Meghan *did* release a statement of support for Kate after her video announcement, which read the following: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”

The Sussexes may also be poised to visit William and Kate when Harry (potentially with Meghan?!) returns to England in May for the 10-year anniversary of the Invictus Games.
