Gov Fubara to Present 2025 Budget to Victor Oko Jumbo Led House of Assembly
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is set to present the 2025 budget to the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led State House of Assembly, despite a recent court order restricting the state’s allocations. This move comes after Fubara commended the Speaker for his support and cooperation, particularly in facilitating the screening of chairmen and expediting executive requests.
The governor’s decision to present the budget to the Oko-Jumbo-led Assembly has sparked controversy, given the ongoing tensions in the state. Twenty-five House of Assembly members loyal to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, had joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), prompting the Fubara-led administration to declare their seats vacant.
Fubara emphasized the importance of collaboration between the executive and legislative branches, highlighting the positive relationship between the two. The Speaker, Victor Oko-Jumbo, also expressed confidence in the Assembly’s ability to work with the governor, despite opposition from “enemies of the state”
