Police Place Officers On Red Alert Ahead of Tuesday NLC Protest
Ahead of Tuesday planned nationwide strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) says it has deployed personnel nationwide and placed officers on red alert. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement, said the Force is committed to ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights and freedom to engage in the protests.
He also said the police will remain vigilant to prevent any attempts to hijack the protests, and that officers will stop any attempt to create unrest. He said the police would not tolerate a breakdown of law and order.
As you may know, the NLC on February 16 announced a nationwide protest scheduled for tomorrow and Wednesday over the alleged government’s failure to implement agreements reached between both parties on October 2, 2023, following the removal of the fuel subsidy.
