Senate Probe Ahmed Idris Over Alleged 978 Billion From Service Wide Vote
The senate has mandated its committee on public accounts to probe the management of the service wide vote by the accountant general of the federation between 2018 and 2022. The resolution followed a point of order raised by a senator, who considered it a matter of national security. The upper chambers mandated its committee on public accounts to investigate how one billion, seven hundred and forty six million, four hundred and fifty five thousand, three hundred and twenty five naira out of eighty one billion, nine hundred and seventy eight million, six hundred and ninety four thousand and two hundred naira withdrawn from the service wide vote as at june 2022 was expended without appropriation.

The upper chambers mandated its committee on public accounts to investigate how one billion, seven hundred and forty six million, four hundred and fifty five thousand, three hundred and twenty five naira out of eighty one billion, nine hundred and seventy eight million, six hundred and ninety four thousand and two hundred naira withdrawn from the service wide vote as at june 2022 was expended without appropriation.
The Senate further directed the Comptroller General of Government Accounts (CGA) to provide a breakdown by itemised expenditure of all oil subsidy components so far received by Federal Government between 2018-2022 inclusive.
It also directed him to make available monthly reports on oil subsidy payments made during each quarter in order to enable Members of Parliament (MPs) better monitor whether or not these funds are being used properly or not
